The quest to reduce product change-over times is as old as rollforming itself. Over many years DREISTERN has spearheaded the develop-ment of tooling set-up time reduction.
With state of the art quick-change equipment, tooling change-over times currently range around ½ hour. Tooling change-over,
however, is only one part of the equation.
What really matters is the time spent from the last good part, until the
first good part of a new product run has been produced.

Ampco straightening "blocks" are subject to constant wear. Consequently downtime increases, scrap rates go up and costs
for replacement accumulates. Furthermore straightening blocks will put additional strain onto the machine's gear-train,
increase equipment horse power requirements, and therefore overall energy consumption.
DREISTERN straighteners use rolls! After all, the process is named "roll-forming" and not "block forming"!
Benefits:
Minimal friction, long lasting straightening rolls Different sizes offered to retrofit any brand rollform
X-Y-Z-axis adjustments, easily reproduced, quick-change design.
Other DREISTERN auxiliary components:
- Strip entry tables
- Side roll tables
- Weld tables (weld boxes)
- Weld seam scarfing units (outside)
- Cut-off shear units
- Cut-off saw units
- Cut-off punch units

When precise in-line punching, forming, and embossing is required, today's rollforming specialists depend on using
Start-Stop. The process is simple in concept. The rollforming machine works like a precision press-feeder;
the progressively advancing profile is stopped briefly during the cut-off and punching operations, after which the
profile is reaccelerated to normal operating speed. All punching and cut-off tools are stationary.

High-performance lines reach will reach 80-100 parts per minute. A sophisticated rollforming machine drive system propels the
profile with an acceleration of up to 8 m/s² (26 ft/ s²) to a speed of up to 100 meters per minute (330 ft/minute) and more.
Exactly at the programmed punching or cutting position the drive system decelerates and stops. The positional accuracy is
usually better than ± 0,2 mm (+/- 0.008").

Increasing safety standards and an obligation to reduce weight and material content have increased the importance of high
strength steels for many uses. Because of their structural rigidity more and more profiles will be designed as welded "hollow"
shapes. For these applications induction welding offers some very interesting alternatives, with very decisive arguments such
as high production speeds and economics.
